Crumpled up newspaper pages make an excellent alternative to sponges, rags and paper towels for cleaning windows. Not only do they eliminate the need to clean sponges or rags or to buy more paper towels, but also there is no reduction in cleaning ability or other undesireable effects. Moreover, a crumpled up sheet of newspaper can even be easier to hold and work with than towels, rags and sponges. Although water is often sufficient to clean windows, cleaning power can be boosed by dipping the newspaper, sponge, rag or paper towel in warm water that contains a peeled onion that has been chopped into several pieces. They can also be cleaned using a more durable home-made window cleaning solution. It is often convenient to apply the water or home made cleaning solution to windows using old plastic hair spray bottles.
