How to   Clean up Broken Glass

Cleaning up the fragments of glass from a drinking glass, light bulb or other glass object that has been dropped or otherwise broken can be a dangerous and tedious job. However, it can be made safer and easier with a few simple steps.

The first step is to remove the larger pieces while wearing thick gloves or with a broom and dustpan.

Typically, many tiny pieces will remain, some that are so small that they are virtually invisible (but which can still result in painful cuts to the skin). These fragments can be effectively and safely removed by crumpling up a sheet of newspaper, moistening one side of it, and then pressing the moistened side on the area of the floor or other surface that contains the glass fragments. These fragments will cling to the newspaper, which can then be easily discarded. This can be repeated with another piece of crumpled, moistened newspaper if the fragments are dispersed over more than just a small area.
