How to   Clean Floor Edges

Vacuum cleaners are sometimes not effective in cleaning the edges and corners of floors. Often the best solution is to use an old toothbrush, both for carpeted floors and solid floors.

In the case of carpeted floors, rubbing the edges with an old toothbrush can sometimes collect an amazing amount of hair, dust and other debris that would otherwise be difficult to remove.

In the case of wood, linoleum and other floors, it is usually best to wipe the edges with a mostened rag or paper towel. A moistened old toothbrush can then be used to get the dirt at the very junction of the floor and wall that the paper towel or rag cannot reach. When the dirt is embedded in the crack between the floor and wall, removal can be facilitated by dipping the moistened toothbrush in baking soda. If mold is present, as is often the case in bathrooms and kitchens, the toothbrush can instead be dipped in bleach.
